Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-22
Hiyokopy (the "App") is a clipboard history utility that runs entirely on your device. The developer (hiyoko.fun, "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy describes what data the App handles, where it is stored, and what is shared with third parties.
Data we collect and store
The App stores the following data locally on your device. We do not have access to any of it.
| Data | Location (macOS, sandboxed) | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Clipboard history (text, images, file references) | .../Hiyokopy/history.db | Display, search, paste |
| Image thumbnails | .../Hiyokopy/images/ | Fast list rendering |
| Settings | .../Hiyokopy/user_settings.toml | User customization |
| Purchase state | .../Hiyokopy/license.json | Pro feature unlock state |
| Application logs (optional) | .../Hiyokopy/logs/ | Debugging and support |
The App Store build runs under macOS App Sandbox, so the paths above resolve to~/Library/Containers/fun.hiyoko.hiyokopy/Data/. The App does not write outside this container.
The App does not continuously transmit any of this data over the network.
Network communication
The App contacts external services only in the following narrowly scoped cases, and only as a result of an explicit user action or setting:
- In-app purchase / restore via Apple StoreKit — When you explicitly tap "Buy on App Store" or "Restore Purchase", macOS StoreKit communicates with Apple's servers. Apple handles the entire transaction; the App only receives a success / failure result and the receipt. Clipboard history, settings, and logs arenever transmitted.
- Link preview fetch (opt-in) — Only if you enable "Link preview" in settings, and only when you copy a URL: the App performs a one-off HTTP request to the URL you copied to fetch Open Graph metadata. Traffic goes directly between your Mac and the URL's host. We do not run a proxy or aggregator.
The App contains no telemetry, no usage analytics, no crash reporting, and no developer-controlled servers that would receive data from your installation.
Third-party services
Apple App Store (StoreKit) — for Pro purchase processing. At purchase, you provide your Apple ID and payment information directly to Apple. The App only receives Apple's standard purchase receipt and product identifier; your real name, address, and payment details are not shared with us. Apple's privacy policy:apple.com/legal/privacy. When the Windows 11 version ships, the Microsoft Store plays the same role with the same receipt-only data flow.
Your rights
- Delete your data: Quit the App, then delete ~/Library/Containers/fun.hiyoko.hiyokopy/.
- Restore your Pro purchase: Use the in-app Restore Purchase button (via StoreKit; no license key).
- Refunds: Handled by Apple — reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Access, correction, deletion (GDPR / similar): The App stores no personal data on our servers. Email us to exercise these rights.
Cookies and tracking
The App is not a web browser and does not use cookies or web-tracking technologies. It does not generate user identifiers or device fingerprints.
Children's privacy
The App is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from users under the age of 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date indicates the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated through Mac App Store release notes.
